The Communications Committee is busy implementing a strong social media plan for the chapter. We have successful completed our first steps and are happy to report our progress…check out our new a FaceBook fan page and Twitter account.
We need your help first, become a fan, following us and add us to your network then ask your colleagues to join help us too. Spread the word, marketers in the area can join our online communities even if they are not an AMA Baltimore member.
Second, join the conversation or start one. These social media tools should be used to network with marketing professionals, to quickly learn about marketing job opportunities, to easily find local marketing events, discuss marketing ideas and learn about industry trends.
Here are 9 action steps you can do NOW to climb aboard the AMA Baltimore social media bandwagon:
- Follow us on Twitter to stay up to date with the latest events, marketing news and more.
- While attending AMA Baltimore events tweet about it! Use our hashtag #AMABalt in your tweets.
- Use Twitter’s cool new “list” feature as a way to group followers, add @AMABaltimore to your custom list or send us a tweet so we you to one of ours.
- Become of fan, join the AMA Baltimore Facebook fan page
- Show off your pictures or video from AMA Baltimore events on our Facebook fan page
- Use Facebook fan page to engage in conversation, network, discuss hot marketing topics and/or issues
- Join our LinkedIn group “Baltimore Chapter of the AMA”
- Add “AMA Baltimore member” to your linkedin profile
- Get some training especially if have no idea where to start with any of the 8 previous action steps or want to understand how to use social media tools to network with the AMA Baltimore community and to market your business.
At first glance social media tools like Twitter and Facebook may appear to be just another cool tool to chat with your friends, share pictures and upload videos. However using Twitter and Facebook for your business provides a powerful marketing opportunity.
Social media is not a fad, look around you its here to stay. In fact you can not turn on a television or the radio with out hearing the words Twitter and/or Facebook. Don’t be left behind, now is a good time to climb on board the social media bandwagon.
