The Baltimore Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) today announced that it has named Keith Michel as its new Board president, as well as the addition of three new vice president-level Board members for its 2012-2013 year.
Keith Michel is a results driven marketing professional who has successfully managed the strategic planning and daily needs of a diverse set of businesses. Through his career, Keith has been an entrepreneur and senior marketing strategist for top brands like McDonalds, Giant Food and the Washington Post, as well as an advertising account executive. In his current capacity as Marketing Manager at Laureate Education, Keith leads the development and execution of brand positioning, new product launches, marketing strategies, online advertising, data analysis and driving enrollments for The Richard W. The Annual Student Job Search Workshop, hosted by the Baltimore Chapter of the AMA, offers undergraduate college students the leading edge on an education in marketing and/or related major, career paths and current positions in the Baltimore area. Students engage in one-on-one interactions, small group discussions, and networking with Baltimore-area marketing professionals to learn the ins-and-outs of careers and internships in all functional areas of the marketing/advertising fields. AMA Baltimore members are invited to attenhour day and a half long event in Washington DC on the topic of building brand through custom content.
Custom Content Council, the leading professional association for custom media, is hosting its fifth annual Custom Content Conference in Washington, DC from March 21-23 at the Hotel Monaco.
The event is a series of high-level marketing conversations focused on building a brand through custom content. Speakers represent a variety of disciplines and engage attendees in conversation about improving content, building stronger brands, and exploring new methods to monetize custom media programs across the print and digital landscape. Expected to attend are over 150 media executives, including marketers, owners of custom content companies and the heads of integrated marketing divisions at large publishing companies (i.e., Time Inc., Meredith, Hearst, etc.). The Marketing Excellence Award is given each year to an individual or organization that plans and implements the best marketing campaign and can demonstrate the campaign’s success with measurable results. The Marketing Excellence Awards will recognize outstanding and effective marketing in our region by awarding the top 8 entries.
Please consider your local and national campaigns from the past year. AMA Baltimore will award as follows:
- 5 local awards – $50 non-member app fee, $0 member app fee
- 3 national awards, $50 non-member app fee, $0 member app fee
Congratulations Debbie Wright! You are AMA Baltimore’s January 2012 Volunteer of the Month. This is our time to share your amazing contributions to our chapter with the world!
Debbie is one of our longest standing members, as she joined the Baltimore chapter in 1983 (sheesh, she was practically in diapers). Her loyalty and commitment shines through as she serves on the membership committee. Each month, Debbie is responsible for membership retention and engagement, and judging by our solid and growing membership numbers, she does an excellent job. In addition, she manages the Marketing Career Network job database for AMA Baltimore.
In her spare time, Debbie is a marketing manager for FedChoice Federal Credit Union managing events, advertising efforts, and marketing materials to prospects and customers. On top of it ALL, she finds time to help her daughter select a college and enjoy Katy Perry concerts with her husband (no, we’re not kidding, she is a very avid Katy Perry fan).
Debbie – thank you for everything you do for this chapter and we all look forward to continued success.

Calling all students and parents!
The AMA Baltimore is proud to announce that we are now accepting applications for its 2012 Undergraduate Marketing Education Scholarships, which will be awarded to three exceptional undergraduate students in marketing or a marketing-related degree program in Spring 2012.
For this year’s competition, we are pleased to offer a first place prize of $2,500 and two $500 Book Scholarships for runner-up winners. We would appreciate it if you would announce the availability of these scholarship offerings in classes with students who will be juniors and seniors as of September 2011 (sophomores and juniors at present) and are pursuing a marketing or marketing-related major.
