AMA Baltimore Announces the Winners of the 2023 MX Awards

BALTIMORE, MD – The American Marketing Association Baltimore Chapter (AMA Baltimore) announced the winners of its annual MX Awards, on Wednesday, May 17 at the American Visionary Art Museum. Over 120 people attended the event, which was emceed by Moni Oloyede, a Washington, D.C.-area marketing executive. For 38 years, the MX Awards have celebrated local organizations that demonstrate outstanding creativity, implementation, and results in their marketing campaigns.

Awards are presented for outstanding overall campaigns as well as the best campaigns in specific channels or elements. This year’s entries were judged by an esteemed panel of professionals from the AMA San Antonio chapter.

The Grand MX Campaign of the Year went to the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange for their Unexpected campaign. In conjunction with their agency, GMMB, they created a series of television commercials, radio ads, social and digital ads, influencer partnerships, print ads and out-of-home placements to encourage uninsured Marylanders to recognize the importance of health insurance in the event of ‘unexpected’ accidents or illnesses. The campaign resulted in a record-breaking 182,166 enrollments in the Exchange in 2023.

Runner-Up Campaign of the Year went to BGE and its agency, ICF, who created a compelling video promoting its Small Business Energy Solutions energy savings program. The video generated more than 141,470 views on BGE’s YouTube channel and 2,056,349 impressions and 5,942 clicks in streaming video ads, leading to over 4,150 website sessions. It drove 205 direct conversions – achieving a direct conversion rate of 3.45%.

Second Runner-Up Campaign of the Year went to the National Aquarium for its rebranded Voyages event series. Through radio, out-of-home, and both paid and earned print and digital media, the first two events of 2022 sold out and reached the younger and more diverse audience the campaign targeted.

“Coming together to honor the region’s best marketing campaigns is the highlight of our year,” said Christian Bielski, President of AMA Baltimore. “The quality of the entries this year was extremely high and we are excited about the creativity and innovation we see in our community.”
