AMA Baltimore Names Andra Huhulea Summer 2019 Featured Volunteer

The Baltimore Chapter of the American Marketing Association is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Each quarter, the Chapter selects a Featured Volunteer in order to recognize the extraordinary effort of these hard-working and dedicated individuals. The Featured Volunteers are nominated and voted on by the Chapter’s Executive Board.

Andra Huhulea of the Member Engagement committee has been named the Featured Volunteer of Summer 2019. Andra is the National Account Executive at Starchapter, a software company that provides local chapters of any national association a tool to organize and run their individual chapter. In this position, Andra works on national marketing campaigns, strategic outreach, and content development to encourage engagement between national associations and their local chapters. 

“The associations that I work with on a daily basis translate directly to my role volunteering with AMA,” says Huhulea. “Bringing in and retaining members is crucial for both roles, so I get to use those skills in both roles, but in different ways. It’s a great fit.”

In 2018, Andra joined AMA Baltimore to improve her skills as a marketer and broaden her knowledge to strengthen her communication abilities. With an interest in learning the inner workings of the chapter, Andra joined the member engagement committee.  

“Andra’s extensive knowledge of association communications and diversity of ideas when it comes to member engagement makes her invaluable to us,” said Brynn Devereaux, AMA Baltimore’s President. “Her relevant marketing expertise in the association world is also a wonderful addition to our organization and brings a unique perspective that we are lucky to have. ”

Market research and data are fascinating to Andra. By conducting interviews of members, Andra has gained a better understanding of the reasons marketers value their memberships with AMA Baltimore. “I really think that good marketing happens when you have good data, actually surveying your members and analyzing that info drives your members and your chapter forward.”

AMA Baltimore has contributed to Andra’s professional development by connecting her with others in the marketing field. “I love to see what other tactics everyone is employing, and hear about what works well for them. The speaker series are another great way to learn about everything new in the marketing world. I’ve made a lot of connections with other members and the speakers, and honestly a lot of friends too!”
