The Baltimore Chapter of the American Marketing Association is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Each month, the Chapter selects a Volunteer of the Month in order to recognize the extraordinary effort of these hard-working and dedicated individuals. The Volunteers of the Month are nominated and voted on by the Chapter’s Executive Board.
Brynn Devereaux of the Marketing Communications Committee has been named Volunteer of the Month for July 2016. Devereaux is the marketing director of Coyle Studios (AMA Baltimore sponsor), a Towson-based business specializing in commercial photography and photo restoration. She manages all marketing and client communications and serves as project manager for photo shoots. It was through her work with Coyle that she learned about AMA Baltimore, ultimately deciding she “wanted to do more for the organization and started to volunteer.”
As a member of the Marketing Communications Committee, Devereaux posts photos from events and generates content for the AMA Baltimore website. She has been instrumental in selecting photos for the new website that tell the AMA story and reflect the national and chapter brand, and she organized the photo shoot for the chapter executive board’s website portraits.
Devereaux cites the connections she has made as the most valuable part of her volunteer experience. “I have met some fantastic people through volunteering. Networking only gets you so far. When you volunteer, you build relationships.”
While she encourages other members to volunteer, Devereaux notes that she has learned from her experience “not to bite off more than you can chew.” She advises prospective volunteers to “be realistic about what you can handle and commit to something that excites you.”
