The American Marketing Association Baltimore Chapter is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Each month, the Chapter selects a Volunteer of the Month in order to recognize the extraordinary effort of these hard-working and dedicated individuals. The Volunteers of the Month are nominated and voted on by the Chapter’s Executive Board.
Christian Bielski of the Marketing and Communications Committee has been selected as the Volunteer of the Month for September 2017. He is the sales and marketing director for Shapiro Negotiations Institute, a consulting firm providing sales, influence and negotiation training to a national client base. Bielski works to generate new business, maximizing their marketing tools.
On the Marketing and Communications Committee, Bielski writes event recaps and member profiles as well as crafting messaging and strategy for AMA Baltimore’s LinkedIn page and assisting with the Chapter’s newsletter. “I wanted to keep my marketing skills sharp and to learn new skills while contributing my current skills,” said Bielski. “Additionally, I thought it would be a great way to network and work with people who enjoy the marketing space as much as I do.”
Bielski enthusiastically cites the people he has worked with and the opportunities to stretch his creative muscle as the most rewarding parts of his volunteer experience. “When you get to work with other creatives in a neutral space, you learn a lot. You get to be exposed to different marketing philosophies and see how your peers view concepts and ideas for AMA.”
The main lesson he has learned from his volunteer experience, says Bielski, is “to never give up on your passion to create. Always strive to build quality products outside of work because it may lead to bigger and better opportunities in the future.”
