AMA Baltimore Names Debbie Shapiro Volunteer of the Month for April 2017

The Baltimore Chapter of the American Marketing Association is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Each month, the Chapter selects a Volunteer of the Month in order to recognize the extraordinary effort of these hard-working and dedicated individuals. The Volunteers of the Month are nominated and voted on by the Chapter’s Executive Board.

Debbie Shapiro of the Marketing Communications Committee has been selected as the Volunteer of the Month for April 2017. She is currently a freelance marketing consultant specializing in content creation and website management.

As a member of the Marketing Communications Committee, Shapiro composes and edits content for the AMA Baltimore website. This includes press releases, chapter announcements, event recaps and articles for the website’s blog. With the launch of the much-improved, redesigned website, the chapter now has an opportunity to engage members with chapter news and educational content via all of its digital channels.

“I wanted to be able to contribute to an organization where I’ve met so many helpful and inspiring people,” said Shapiro. “Building the content on the new AMA Baltimore website is an exciting project and has allowed me to meet many marketing leaders in our area. I am enjoying the opportunity to create content that will drive member engagement and promote chapter programming and membership.”

Shapiro first started volunteering for the chapter in 2004, with previous roles on the Programming and Membership committees. “Being a member and volunteer with AMA has allowed me to make valuable professional connections and enhance my knowledge and skills as a marketer. I encourage all members to find an area they are passionate about and get involved in building the chapter’s success.”
