The Baltimore Chapter of the American Marketing Association is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Each month, the Chapter selects a Volunteer of the Month in order to recognize the extraordinary effort of these hard-working and dedicated individuals. The Volunteers of the Month are nominated and voted on by the Chapter’s Executive Board.
Debbie Wright of the Membership Committee has been selected as the Volunteer of the Month for January 2017. Wright is a product and service strategist in the creative services department at FedChoice Federal Credit Union. The Lanham, MD-based company serves federal government employees and contractors and their family members in the Baltimore, DC and Philadelphia areas. She analyzes loan and deposit products, e-services and other financial offerings to help drive growth and better serve members’ needs.
As a member of the Membership Committee, Wright sends reminder communications to members whose annual membership is nearing renewal and actively recruits new members to the chapter, encouraging them to take advantage of the career development and networking opportunities that are available.
Says Wright: “Membership is critical to the growth and success of the chapter and the AMA as a whole. Being a longtime member of the American Marketing Association, I believe that it’s important to support an organization that has contributed to my own professional development and to give back in an area that is so important to its existence.”
Wright encourages other AMA members to volunteer on one of the many chapter committees, citing the benefits she has gained personally and professionally. “As with any other volunteer activity that I have supported, you typically receive more benefits from your contributions than the time and effort required. By being a volunteer with the AMA, I’ve been able to help shape and drive the future of the chapter while meeting many highly capable marketing professionals in a wide variety of fields.”
