When The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore began their rebrand journey they were faced with not only updating the brand identity, but also building out the ever-growing educational aspect of the institution.
The Zoo’s mission is to inspire and educate people to join with it in the active support and conservation of wildlife and wild places. In order to align with the Zoo’s mission, the rebrand needed to be educational while fun at the same time. Along with creating new events and revamping fan favorites such as Brew at the Zoo, Boo at the Zoo, Zoo Snooze, and Zoo Bop, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore developed new content and leveraged social media as well as other innovative ways to reach its target audience.
As part of the branding overhaul, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore website and branded platforms have undergone significant improvements. In the process of creating deeper user-experience with an ever-growing collection of native content, they created superb photography and let it do as much of the talking as possible.
A portion of all tickets sales will be donated to The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore to support animal care, education programs, and critical wildlife conservation helping to save species from extinction.

Meet the Presenter
Director of Marketing & Digital Media, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore
Timm Baldwin is a local marketing professional with more than two decades of experience elevating brand awareness and building multi-channel advertising campaigns for businesses here in Baltimore. His career started in broadcast advertising writing and producing video content, commercials and marketing campaigns for television earning him two regional Emmy awards. For the past six years, Timm has led the marketing and digital media efforts for The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. In his current role, he oversees branding and advertising for the Zoo in addition to managing the Zoo’s membership programs. His team’s recent success has helped the Zoo grow attendance by more than 25% and increase membership revenue by more than 50% in the past five years.
In addition to marketing, Timm also has passions for running, music and photography, a skill he also gets to put to work regularly in the many hats he wears in his role at the Zoo.
