As Vice President of Programming, Katie Ballance is responsible for managing the planning and logistics for all events on behalf of AMA Baltimore. She works closely with board members to incorporate quality programming topics and speakers for our key audiences, helps engage new and current members, as well as promoting and communicating upcoming events and feature sponsors throughout the year.

After successfully executing events behind the scenes and providing strategic direction to offer more diverse and inclusive speakers and topics, Katie won the Volunteer Spotlight Award for Spring 2020. Throughout the pandemic, Katie worked hard to implement new and innovative ways to bring quality programming to AMA Baltimore members. During 2020-21, AMA Baltimore was recognized as a recipient of a Chapter Excellence Award (CEA) in Programming – where the organization celebrated its highest-attended event (in-person or virtual) in AMA Baltimore history.

Katie has been involved with AMA Baltimore since 2019, previously volunteering on the Programming committee and then serving in the role as Assistant Vice President of Programming. She is currently a Marketing and Communications Manager at Erickson Senior Living, a nation-leading developer and manager of continuing care retirement communities in 11 states. Prior to that, Katie was the Marketing Director at Junior Achievement of Central Maryland, where she oversaw and executed all marketing and communications efforts, including public relations and event marketing for the organization, which provides hands-on programming to teach K-12 students about careers, money, and business ownership.

Katie has a BA in English from Stevenson University. She loves mentoring the next generation – and continues to find volunteer opportunities that closely align. She is a two-time Girls Empowerment Mission mentor and regularly speaks at Stevenson University to prepare college students for their future internships or career opportunities. When Katie is not volunteering, she enjoys cooking, playing board games, and watching the Bravo network.

Fun fact: After attending her first AMA Baltimore event, Katie knew instantly that she wanted to get involved and the rest as they say is history!
