Steve Kozak serves as VP of Mentorship + Professional Development for AMA Baltimore. In this role, he works with his committee to develop opportunities for AMA Baltimore members to grow their careers and make connections with each other. He’s responsible for continuing, and expanding upon, the success of the Mentor Connections program — a program designed to partner marketing professionals with emerging marketing leaders.
Since 1996, Steve has been active in the AMA Baltimore community, and was a board member in 2000-2001. “One of my first roles was to coordinate an event that raised funds for the initial launch of the education scholarship that AMA Baltimore hands out every year,” says Steve. His marketing consulting firm, MKTG101, works with clients to understand their customer-buying journey and create marketing plans and digital marketing strategies to increase customer attraction, engagement and retention.
Steve has a BS in Marketing from the University of Maryland, MBA in Marketing from Loyola University of Maryland, and has served on a number of boards over the years. When he’s not volunteering for AMA Baltimore, Steve enjoys cooking and hosting dinner parties. “My wife tells me that I’m a great scrapbooker,” says Steve. “Although, I think that’s her way of getting me to scrapbook the many adventures we went on over the years with our kids.” The AMA Baltimore Board will not hold the fact that he is a huge Steelers fan against him.
A marketer, leader, or entrepreneur that Steve looks up to: “My wife — she doesn’t even know this. She started her own graphic design business in 2001, and over that time, her business has grown and evolved. More importantly, she’s grown. She’s completely transformed herself. She took a leap back in 2001 and never looked back. I’m so proud of her,” says Steve.
